Sensor check and Shutter speed test

  • Set camera to the highest F stop
  • Put on Aperture priority (A)
  • Widest lens setting
  • ISO setting set as low as possible
  • Set to infinity
  • Point to a white wall/image
  • Upload pic to Photoshop
  • Select Image and Auto contrast
  • Make sure the battery is fully charged
  • Pull the Lens off the camera
  • Menu, setting, Lock mirror up for cleaning, OK that
  • Clean with swab, dust wand
  • Repeat the test until complete
Top Tip, When changing Lens, switch camera off, as dust will get sucked in onto the sensor.

The white balance for these pictures was set, for some strange reason, to cloudy day, they did turn out better for it I think?

Shutter speed 1/125
Shutter speed 1/30
Shutter speed 1/60

Shutter speed 1/15

Shutter speed 1/4
Shutter speed 1/8
One thing that you notice, as the shutter speed slows down, the softer the light gets.

As when we were told to change the white balance to tungsten (incandescent) the pictures turned out a weird blue colour? I did not question this as it was a dark room and the light that it was picking up was ok in my eyes.

Phil and I were the last to take photos of each other and Andy caught sight of my screen, he had noticed this blue tint and rectified it. It had turned out that as this was a borrowed camera the previous user decided to manual the tungsten setting, he was able to rectify this and my last picture looks a lot better, even better than the cloudy day shots.
